John Edward Higgins, born on Sunday, 5 March 1843 in County Antrim, Ireland, immigrated on Friday, 19 May 1865 to New York City, naturalized on Tuesday, 3 October 1876 in Boston, died due to phthisis on Friday, 3 October 1902 in Somerville, buried in Holy Cross cemetery in Malden, Massachusetts.
John Higgins had a berth in the deck house, a long cabin on the main deck where men traveling singly were segregated from the family accommodations in steerage.

Higgins, of 18 Jay street, since last June a member of the State Constabulary attached to the Framingham barracks, was almost instantly killed Saturday afternoon, when the motorcycle on which he was riding collided with the rear end of an automobile at the junction of Newton street and Framingham road, in Southboro.
Higgins' motorcycle crashed into one of the rear mudguards of a machine operated by Joseph Gaunt, of 64 Sterling Avenue, Providence, R. I., and he was thrown over the handlebars in such a way that his head struck against the automobile.
The bride is a native of this city and daughter of the late Patrolman James Higgins of the Somerville police, and Mrs.

We are still looking for date of entry into America for John Higgins but we do know he was born in Ireland in 1832 and in 1869 married Julia Welsh in Louisville, KY.  Julia came to America with her mother  Bridget (O’Connor)Welsh around 1867 (this is taken for her naturalization record).
 John L. Higgins married Lillie Mae Senior and the were blessed with one child, William Joseph Higgins (aka Joe).  John L. and Lillie Mae and little Joe, lived with James H. Senior, until he died in 1914.  Then John L. and Lillie Mae purchased a store at 12th Street in Lou.
Several years later, she moved back to Louisville, to raise her children with the support of the Senior and Higgins families.
