John Humphrys (born 17 August 1943) is a British radio and television presenter.
John Humphrys was born in Splott, a suburb of Cardiff, and was educated at Cardiff High School, leaving to become a teenage reporter on the Penarth Times.
Humphrys attracted further controversy in September 2005 when he allegedly branded all politicians as liars and made comments about Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and John Prescott in an after-dinner speech which was subsequently leaked to The Times by Tim Allan, an aide to the Prime Minister [1].

The BBC's director general, Mark Thompson, yesterday risked picking a fight with his most combative star presenter when he rebuked John Humphrys for making "inappropriate and misguided" remarks that could be used to call the corporation's impartiality into question.
The verdict was an attempt by the BBC to end the row over a speech Humphrys made to the Communication Directors Forum in June, in which he mocked senior Labour politicians and said some "couldn't give a bugger" whether they lied or not.
Humphrys, who was yesterday being paid to host a Department of Trade and Industry seminar, admitted that his remarks may have been a little "ham-fisted", but said he would continue to give light-hearted speeches outside his work for the BBC.

John Humphrys, broadcaster, writer, farmer and consumer, has written The Great Food Gamble to address the serious questions he and many of his audience have about the food on our tables in the wake of BSE, foot and mouth, and concerns about the effects of factory farming practices on the nation's health and environment.
Humphrys knowledgeably traces such intensive agricultural practices to British food policy from the end of the Second World War to ask whether the relentless drive for more and more food has been a mistake and whether the risks we run are worth it to have what may ultimately prove to be an illusion of choice.
Humphrys' prose is unashamedly popular: evocative and even nostalgic for a fast disappearing experience of the British countryside, even as he stops short of being romantic.

The tables were turned on the political interviewer John Humphrys yesterday when peers rounded on him for talking more than his guests on Radio 4's Today programme.

Mr Humphrys also defended self-regulation of the BBC from attack by its commercial rivals and rejected calls for the BBC to be overseen by an external regulator, saying although it would give the appearance of transparency, in practice the present system of governors "worked pretty well".
