  John Langdon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Langdon was again a member of the Continental Congress in 1787 and became a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in 1787, serving as a member of the New Hampshire delegation.
Langdon was elected to the U.S. Senate and served from March 4, 1789, to March 3, 1801.
Langdon declined the nomination to be a candidate for Vice President in 1812, and later retired.

John Sullivan (February 17, 1740 – January 23, 1795) was an American general in the Revolutionary War and a delegate in the Continental Congress.
He was sent by Durham to the colony's general assembly, and built a friendship with the royal governor John Wentworth.
In 1775 he was returned to the Congress, but when they appointed him a brigadier general in June, he left to join the army at the siege of Boston.

John celebrated their golden wedding on the 21st of last November and have, now living, as the fruits of that marriage of a half century ago, five children, seventeen grand children and one great grand child, five and one half years old.
John is a member of Gillett Lodge No. 344, F. and A. M., of which he is a past master, and Crandon Chapter, No. 94, R. He is a republican in his political views and is one of the solid and substantial citizens of his community.

Langdon, grandnephew of Mark Twain, a famous railroad executive and a representative of one of Elmira's leading families, died Monday at his Elmira home.
In June 2002, I was asked by Lucy Brown, president of the John W. Jones Museum in Elmira, to watch as Jervis and his wife, Irene Langdon, supervised the planting of a dogwood tree on the grave of John W. Jones at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira.

The land on the south side of Sagamore Creek was for several centuries owned by the Langdon family, and the north bank of the creek belonged to another branch of the Langdon family.
Perhaps Pomp is one of those buried in the Langdon's rural Slave Burial Ground.
Just as Langdon bought Pomp when young, this youngster was offered for sale in a culture which preferred training boys to their own standards for a valuable long-term investment.
