John describes Even in Blackouts as, "A vehicle I started to bridge the gap between the work I did in Screeching Weasel and the acoustic music I listened to growing up." Few outside the punk scene could understand the level of John's ethos.
John laments the loss but continues to move forward, "We have gone through musicians partly due to miscommunications of authority, and creativity."Even with this uncertainty John was able to quickly enlist the talents of three fantastic musicians who have helped expand the band?s musical horizons.
John followed his instincts carefully to find a drummer who matched the bigger than life personalites that has grown to define the bands unique approach to composition.

Betty and Veronica decide that Jughead needs a girlfriend and maneuver him into a blind date with a female super-athlete.
The book is fun to read, especially since the characters of Archie and Betty come off so vividly, but Michael Pellowski is so delicate with Jughead that it almost seems as if he's afraid of the character.

Bark Like A Dog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bark Like A Dog was Screeching Weasel's first album back after their second breakup.
This split lasted just over a year, and during that time 3/4 of the band (all minus Jughead) played together in a band called The Riverdales.
As a result, much of this album sounds similar to their work in that band.

My friend John Braun is probably one of the best heavy metal guitarists I have ever seen (a born natural), yet he is unknown in a sea of long haired, spandex clad rockers to this very day.
I think it’s nifty that the co-founder of Screeching Weasel, John “Jughead” Pierson plays in a band that at every show plays just as their moniker suggests—as if it was a flout—by unplugging their instruments and playing some acoustic music.
John Jughead Pierson's unique style of sensory metaphors and absurdist writing abilities are shown off quite well in the lyrics "..he rises with feet attacked by chimerical worms and needles with teeth.

I know I remember reading an interview with John where he was talking about recording that album and how he wasn't all that happy with his playing.
In a nutshell, the bass drum I was using on that recording was an odd-sized one: 28" X 14." It had a nice thwack but little ooomph.
John Reis ("Supermarket Fanfare") suggested blending my bass drum with a sample of the bass drum from a Jughead's Revenge record that was recorded at the same studio.

The level of maturity present in the lyrics of EiB directly matches Jughead, who is now at least in his mid-thirties and disgruntled with life more than politics.
Jughead explodes with some sense of stage presence, as he is often near-to the splits as he handles his guitar.

John 'Jughead' Pierson Interviewed on official website of Laura Hird
The guitarist for the band was John ‘Jughead’ Pierson.
What you may not know about Pierson is that he is an accomplished playwright and theatre performer, and that he owns a small publishing company, Hope And Nonthings, where he publishes not only his own wordwork but that of various Chicago punk luminaries including Ben ‘Weasel’ Foster, the ex-Screeching Weasel frontman.
I admire writers like Somerset Maugham and John Updike who seem to have mastered the English language and character development and grammar, but I feel I write more from a place of someone who is struggling to understand the English language.

Jughead fancied himself a punk-rock Lou Perlman and assembled a group of musicians decidedly younger than him to join him in giving birth to his brainchild of sing-along, campfire-style punk rock, music that is punk in attitude and spirit, but naturally more intimate, and quiet.
Thus was born Even in Blackouts, Jughead?s self-described acoustic punk rock group.
Jughead wrote almost all the songs on this record, and the band even covers the Weasel?s ?Hey Suburbia?

John "Jughead" Pierson spent 15 years as the guitarist, co-founder and primary motivating force in the hugely influential Screeching Weasel.
As a playwright, he honed the ability to couch poignant truths in sarcastic and sometimes absurd humor.
