CIRCA Art Magazine - C107 review - New York: John Kindness at Littlejohn Contemporary   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
To be precise, Kindness, as part of a 'regeneration' project of Dublin's blighted Ballymun housing estate, originally harvested as 'canvases' the bonnets of dumped/stolen cars that littered the estate Onto these bonnets he then painted portraits, which now hang in the the estate's civic offices.

Formally, the resilient enamel paints that Kindness employs could remind one of the fetish love of custom-car zealots, yet the banality of that genre is elided, largely because Kindness has borrowed a specific style of portraiture, the profile.
