The shock passing at the age of 38 of Terreni - who was playing as a back rower for the Livorno club - was relayed to the squad at their Nevegal training base, with some of the squad having known him well.
Coach Kirwan is now expected to name the Italy squad on Wednesday for their matches against Scotland, Ireland and Georgia at the end of August and early September.
