  John Lawton (musician) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Lawton (born July 11, 1946 in Halifax) is a rock and roll vocalist best known for his work with Lucifer's Friend (1970–1976; 1981), Uriah Heep (1976–1979), and the Les Humphries Singers (1970s).
In 1995 he replaced Bernie Shaw from Uriah Heep on stage during a tour in south Africa, because of Shaw's throat problems; but it was just a momentary reunion because Shaw is still Uriah Heep singer.
On December 7, 2001, both John Lawton and Ken Hensley appeared on stage with today's Uriah Heep line-up during the annual Magicians Birthday Party in London.

Lawton, of North Cottages in Napsbury, St Albans, was, in the late '70s, the lead singer of the heavy rock band who are still big in Germany and the Netherlands.
Lawton appeared in St Albans Magistrates' Court last Wednesday with his hair styled in a lurid-yellow mullet — popular with rock stars and footballers in the '70s — to face joint charges with is his wife Iris Lawton.
The accounts were in Mrs Lawton's name, but during interviews with council officers they claimed that the money in the savings account had been put aside for their daughter after the sale of their house in Hendon.

Having found that John resides ten minutes away from where DME was staying at, while in London, we arranged a meeting at the old pub called "Queen's Head", and there, over a beer, we had a long talk - mainly about musician's life and all sorts of things rather than just music.
But I don't have many musician friends - I have a few musician friends but a lot of my friends have nothing to do with music, and I think it's better like that because otherwise, if you come together you only ever to talk about music while there are other things in life.
My personal view is that if you're a musician, your wife should not be left at home while you're on tour for three of four months.

This American musician has released a CD titled 'Reflections' and this is quite an interesting release, because the guy is playing 80s typed melodic rock like a cross between TNT, DOKKEN and BON JOVI.
JOHN R. Californian rocker that has been making music since 1985 and is playing all the instruments himself.
John has been influenced by the 80s hair rockbands such as DEF LEPPARD, BON JOVI, WINGER, KISS, CRUE, TESLA, SKID ROW etc. Let's hope the melodic rock of JOHN GALBRAITH is as good as these acts and when I am able to hear his music, a review will be placed on our site.

Former Uriah Heep and Lucifer's Friend belter John Lawton has regularly been releasing albums the last ten or fifteen years under his solo banner, the band GunHill, and now officially as The John Lawton Band.
One thing that is quicky apparent is that Lawton's voice is as strong as ever.
These days, with many hard rock bands of yesterday reuniting and trying to make music that is somehow relevant and entertaining, and most times failing, it's nice to hear a cagey veteran really make it happen.
