In 1925, Mann was appointed the fifth Superintendent of the NZP.
Mann's major achievements during his tenure as head administrator of the NZP included the Park's building program, 1927-1940, and his various expeditions to collect live animals in order to increase the NZP population.
Photographs include William M. Mann's collection of portrait photographs of individuals, mostly naturalists; photographs taken during the Manns' trips abroad; group photographs of the Manns with acquaintances; photographs of animals and insects; and a photograph of Smithsonian officials and staff with President Calvin Coolidge, 1927.

John Mann died of complications arising from injuries sustained in a car accident on July 13, 1915 when he, as Richmond's Fire Commissioner, was speeding up Broad Street towards a fire with the Fire Chief.
The Mann family vacated the house in 1916, not long after John Mann's death; and it served as rental property for a number of years.
Mann and a friend, James Netherwood, owner of a large granite quarry near Petersburg, undertook a major project, now known as the Mann-Netherwood Houses in Historic Church Hill.

I was able to make contact with a distant relative of the Mann family, and she has in her possession a scrapbook compiled by a woman who was a first cousin to Prestonia Mann Martin.
Prestonia Mann Martin donated much of her estate to Rollins College (her husband lectured there) in Winter Park, and they have a daguerreotype of the SAME MAN! in the same clothes, in the collection of the items from Prestonia's estate.

From my Mann research there appears to be a different Mann line in that part of Va. I have not seen a relationship between them and the Arnold and John Mann associated with David Gill of Mattapony.
