John Marshall "Wattie" Watson MBE (born May 4, 1946) is a former Formula 1 race car driver from Northern Ireland.
McLaren-Ford was the team that Watson drove for during the last half of his Formula One racing career.
Watson stepped in for Lauda during the 1985 European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, in which he placed 7th.

Marshall was born on December 31, 1880, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and was educated at Virginia Military Institute.
Marshall taught in various army schools and organizations from 1927 to 1936, when he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general.
He directed U.S. preparations for war over the next two years, and after the nation's entry into World War II in December 1941 he was chiefly responsible for the training, organization, and deployment of U.S. troops in all sectors of the fighting, and for the appointment of commanders in all major operations.

Watson was a member of the Harvard faculty from 1956 to 1976, having already earned recognition for his part in elucidating the structure of DNA, and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine during his tenure there in 1962.
Watson became director of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 1968, revitalizing the financially endangered institution and broadening its research focus to include the study of cancer, particularly cancer-causing DNA tumor viruses, and neuroscience.
Watson and Crick’s revelation of the structure of DNA paved the way for discoveries of the mechanism of gene replication, eventually leading to a proposal by Harvard’s Dr. Walter Gilbert to decode the entire human genome.
