John Spencer Higdon, the son of Mary Ann McClure and Leonard Higdon, was born 25 Jun 1865 in Higdon, Fannin County, Georgia and died 27 Jan 1886 in Quinlan, Hunt County, Texas.
John Spencer went to his brother's home in Quinlan, Texas and would often drink out of the creek when he was out working in the field, he became ill with what they thought was Cholera and died in his brother's home, he did not reach his 21st birthday.

John wrote on 4 Apr 1997 that James McClure died in Harrison County sometime in 1851 as supported by a deed dated 1851 from Samuel McClure, son of James, to Fielding McDaniel, James' son-in-law.
