In 1798, John Buie of Moore County sold 160 acres of land on the Cape Fear River which had been granted to Archibald Buie, (6) and was conveyed to his sons Malcolm (22) and Archibald (8) and at the demise of Archibald (8), his son John became heir.
In the family Bible of John Buie the Shoemaker of Union Church, Mississippi, there is the entry "John Buie, the son of Archibald and Ann Buie of North Carolina, was born in the year 1775 in Cumberland County, North Carolina." The compilers believe that John Buie the shoemaker was the son of this Archibald (8).

Follow the defeat of his provincial government, he was named minister of forestry in the cabinet of Prime Minister John George Diefenbaker and later became became Minister of National Revenue in 1962.
He sought a seat in a by-election in southern New Brunswick in 1960 and was re-elected to his home district four times before he retired from the Canadian House of Commons in 1972.
His family-run lumber mill in the village of Juniper, New Brunswick ran into financial difficulties in the late 1970s, but his impeccable reputation was such that his friend, but staunch Liberal Party supporter, Harrison McCain, organized an investment campaign that raised sufficient capital from businessmen to allow the mill to make a financial recovery.

McNair maintained he stopped to change fuel tanks as was his normal practice and that he did not enter the back of the truck which contained his scheduled runners, Straight Proof and Ears' Ronny.
After McNair was seen talking to journalists he was called back into the stewards' room where Murrihy reminded him of the conditions of his licence that he must not comment on an ongoing inquiry.

McNair is also telling everyone he knows that if they have a mole that is changing or irritating to go to the doctor and have it checked out.

HIS HONOUR: Mr John McNair was the trainer of Straight Proof, which he presented for the Cathay Pacific Handicap over 1900m at Canterbury Park Racecourse on 16 June 2004.
In accordance with normal practice a blood sample was taken from it and conveyed to the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratories at Randwick where a preliminary analysis revealed a finding of 39 millimoles per litre, subject to the usual 1.2 error factor, of plasma total carbon dioxide.
This positive finding was conveyed to Mr McNair and a further blood sample was taken from that horse on 18 June.
