John Miles is a British Musician best known for his 1977 top 3 hit Music.
Miles was born April 23, 1949 in Jarrow, a town in the North East of England.
Throughout the late 80s and into the 90s John Miles was musical director to Tina Turner on her various tours and today John is still making music, what he famously refers to as his "first love".

Miles' achievement seemed to aid others in British chess as in the next five years Keene, Stean, Nunn, Mestel and Speelman were to follow him to the GM title.
Miles played in the Mondariz Zonal tournament and although he got into a playoff for a qualification place the odds were not with him.

John Miles is a proven child of John Edwards and Winifred Miles, and was apparently born out of wedlock.
Miles", a 100 acre tract of land on the south south side of the Neuse River being part of a grant to William Miles dated 1779, later conveyed to John Edwards.
His brothers Britton Miles and Samuel Miles and their mother Winifred Miles all moved to Muhlenberg County, Kentucky around this time, and although it seems reasonable that he may have gone as well, I did not find any record of him being there, though I have not exhausted the records by any means.

Miles spearheaded a new generation of young English players whose rise led eventually to Nigel Short's march to the World Championship final in 1993 and England's status in the 1980s as the second chess nation behind the Russians.
Miles was determined to succeed and next year he travelled to Manila where Florencio Campomanes was staging the World Junior and came back with the gold medal.
Miles inspired us because he showed that the Soviets were not invincible, he was never afraid, rarely took draws and often played more moves than anyone else in a tournament and scored many a win due to his sheer determination.

A qualified engineer and a very sensitive man, Miles became extremely apprehensive about the fragility of the Lotus 72 and after Rindt's fatal accident at Monza he found this cautious approach rewarded when he was dropped from the team.
There is no doubt that Miles was too sensitive and cerebral to fit into Colin Chapman's idea of what a professional racing driver should be, and Miles felt personally traumatized - although perhaps inwardly relieved - at the manner in which Chapman dispensed with his services.
