  Origami Animals
Apologies for poor quality of pictures, and in some cases, the folds have small errors (which are usually not visible due to the poor quality of the photo.) Folds are classified with respect to the book they are taken from.
Montroll gives this model a complexity of `Complex', but I think it is not too hard, and would rank it as `Intermediate'.
Montroll's original horse has one leg lifted up; I folded it with all four legs to the ground.

I really like "Origami Sea Life" by John Montroll and Robert J. Lang for the sheer breadth (and difficulty!) of the models, and Peter Engel's "Folding the Universe" for its in-depth treatment of creativity (but I still haven't completed his Butterfly).

John Montroll took this great pleating technology and designed the Zebra, one of the greatest examples of paperfolding there is. It is a white model, but the tip of the tail is fl, the nose is fl, and the ears have a fl stripe.
Montrolls skunk, however, is the absolute champion of skunks.
John Montroll is, in my opinion, the greatest American folder ever to live.

This is a display of models from Origami Sea Life by John Montroll and Robert Lang.
John Montroll's Bringing Origami to Life (ISBN 0-486-40714-4) focuses on the technique of wet-folding and applying this technique to various animal models with three-dimensional characteristics.

Montroll shows his readers here how versatile he is, and he is still a shining first-rate folder.
They are folded not using the usual square piece of paper but with a dollar bill which is a rectangle with the ratio of 1:2.35.
Still despite the same boring Montroll's subjects, it is still very interesting and fun to fold using paper money.

A cube superficially similar to Montroll's was previously invented independently by Haga and Kunihiko Kasahara.
It can be folded from the same printed pattern for Montroll's, using diagrams in [KT87], pages 58-59, mirrored left-to-right.

A number of paperfolders have worked on the problem of maximizing the size of a folded chessboard, light and dark squares formed from opposite sides of the paper, relative to the size of the original square sheet.

I had always known the model as 'John MacEnroe', the tennis player.
So it seems ironic that, on recently releasing a book on US bill folding, that Montroll himself can be folded from a UK bill!
I'm not sure if Montroll himself has since been shown this, but if I were a cross between royalty and Charles Dickens, I'd be happy.

 Origami Yeah!!
One of my first books was a Montroll and I think that since a lot of the models I did in my youth were from Montroll I have adapted to his style, and they are a lot easier for me to fold.
I have added in my list of books what models are contained in some of the books and the links go to pictures of the models.

(Also, there are almost no words in this book, although generally they are not needed, as Origami diagrams are very explicit.) Montroll has invented many patterns, and puts many steps between diagrams.
Montroll's inventions tend to be very detailed and very realistic looking!
This book contains a few folds similar to those in Orgami for the Enthusiast, as well as completely new ones, but the diagrams are more detailed and much easier to follow.
