  Maximalist Anarchism/Anarchist Maximalism--John Moore
There are precedents for this project in the anarcho-psychological critique of Stirner, Nietzsche and Dostoevsky sketched by John Carroll in Break-Out from the Crystal Palace, and continued--not as Carroll thinks, by Freud--but by the anarchist psychoanalyst Otto Gross.
Maximalism means a renewal and extension of the individualist anarchist project of war on society to encompass the entirety of the control complex.

At the last meeting, for example, John Moore delivered a highly informative talk on Perlman and the discussion consisted, for the most part, of requests for clarification on details, mention of other anarchist writers who had made similar or contrasting statements, and suggestions of ways in which Perlman's work might be continued.
A tendency towards the sort of freedom anarchists advocate is held to be natural or inherent; anarchists often point to rebellious or casual or disorderly behaviour, or to people quietly enjoying themselves, as evidence for the universality of anarchistic tendencies.
Anarchistic tendencies seem to be (as indeed the familiar history of the movement already suggests) advanced developments which have only appeared as significant social influences in, and largely as a reaction to, the version of the authoritarian state which comes with developing capitalism.

Anarchist history is a terrain occupied by materialists and mystics, communists and mutualists, nihilists and scientists, progressivists and primitivists alike.
The fact that anarchist thought originated in response to state and class oppression does not mean that it is defined by oppression; and it certainly does not change the fact that oppression is the main obstacle to the achievement of our goals.
Anarchists hold that all, including the rulers, are degraded by this situation; we recognise that the oppressed are often complicit; we also know that the rulers sometimes apologise and express the intention to improve matters in the future; and yet it goes on.

But American anarchists, in particular, because of their apparent marginality and the transformative capacity inherent in their ideology, were able to make the necessary shifts to remain equal to the challenge of historical trends.
In order to establish the viability of these ideas, he cites the example of the Spanish anarchists during the late 1930s, suggesting that their "large-scale anarchist revolution" was temporarily "successful": "That is, production continued effectively; workers in farms and factories proved quite capable of managing their affairs without coercion from above" [11].
Unless anarchists develop this waning stratum of thinkers who live a vital public life in a searching communication with their social environment, they will be faced with the very real danger of turning ideas into dogmas and becoming the self- righteous surrogates of once-living movements and people who belong to another historical era.

Moore simply distorts the ideas of "classical anarchism" by his assertions.
On a different issue, looking at the arguments in the bulletin I am struck by how vague "anarcho-primitivism" is. For example, John Moore states that the "kind of world envisaged by anarcho-primitivism is one unprecedented in human experience" and that "there are no hard-and-fast rules" in getting there.

The collection is edited by the late John Moore, who is described in the introduction as an eccentric ‘iconoclastic’ thinker – even though Moore joyfully embraced every intellectual fad around, from primitivism and spiritualism to Nietzschean aristocratic individualism, and never lost an opportunity to denigrate reason, socialism and class-struggle anarchism.
