  John Norvell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Norvell (December 21, 1789–April 24 (sometimes given as April 11), 1850) was a newspaper editor and one of the first U.S. Senators from Michigan.
One, Colonel Freeman Norvell, was a Marine Officer who fought at the Battle of Chapultepec in September 1847, and at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 and his younger brother Lt. Dallas Norvell served on the staff of General George Custer.
Norvell died in Detroit and is interred in Elmwood Cemetery.

Norvelle was absent from home and was said to be in the war, and sowas his son, George Norvelle.
That he is the son of Henry H. Norvell deceased,who was a Revolutionary soldier and pensioner under the act of March 1818,and for his services in the Virginia Continental Line in the Revolutionarywar, received a pension of ninety-six dollars per annum.

While I wish that scholars with more nuanced analyses or thoughtful opposition to some forms of affirmative action in Brazil would be more outspoken, I certainly understand, given the current climate.
