John Kenneally, VC, was born on March 15, 1921.
John Kenneally won his VC as a lance corporal in the Irish Guards during the penultimate phase of the Tunisian campaign in April 1943.
JOHN KENNEALLY, who has died aged 79, was awarded the Victoria Cross in April 1943 when serving with the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards in the final assault on Tunis.

John Kenneally was awarded the Victoria Cross in April 1943 when serving with the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards in the final assault on Tunis.
John Kenneally was born, he claimed, Leslie Robinson on 15th March 1921, and grew up on a farm in the north of England and was sent to the King Edward Grammer School in Birmingham for his education.
Kenneally's VC resides with the Irish Guards RHQ, Wellington Barracks, London, and his final resting place is in his home village of Rochford in Worcestershire.

In April 1943, during the latter phase of the Tunisian campaign, Lance Corporal John Kenneally, who has died aged 79, was a Bren gunner with No 1 company, 1st battalion, the Irish Guards, part of 24th Guards Brigade, when General Sir Harold Alexander ordered the final assault on Tunis.
John Patrick Keanneally was not his real name.
With not a drop of Irish blood, Kenneally was immensely proud of being identified as a "Mick", steadfastly loyal to his regiment.

On April 28 1943, the positions held by one company of the Irish Guards in the ridge between points 212 and 214 were about to be subjected to an attack by the enemy.
L/Cpl Kenneally then returned to the crest further to harass their retreat.
L/Cpl Kenneally repeated this remarkable exploit on the morning of 30 April 1943, when, accompanied by a Sergeant of the Reconnaissance Corps, he again charged the enemy forming up for an assault.

 Daniel Kenneally
After a brief vacation Father Kenneally came to the United States and on the 12th of October, 1912, arrived at Wichita, where for six months he was assistant to Father Monnier in the cathedral.
Father Kenneally also has under his supervision a parochial school and a residence for the Sisters of St. Joseph which was completed in 1917.
Father Kenneally is a son of Daniel Kenneally, who was born at Ballylanders, Cloyne, County Cork, in 1835, and is still living there, having spent all his long and useful life as a farmer.

Sgt. Harold John Colley V.C. of the Lancashire Fusiliers who was born on 26th May 1894 in Wilson Street, Smethwick.
On 28th April 1943 during the final assault on Tunis, Lance Corporal Patrick Kenneally repeatedly charged the enemy.
On one occassion, single handed he charged down the bare forward slope straight at the main enemy body, firing his bren gun from the hip as he did so.
