		John Paul Jones was born John Paul in 1747 in the Stewarty of Kirkcudbright on the southern coast of Scotland.
		Jones accepted the honor, and desired the title to be used thereafter: when the Continental Congress in 1787 resolved that a medal of gold be struck in commemoration of his "valor and brilliant services" it was to be presented to "Chevalier John Paul Jones".

		John Baldwin (born January 3, 1946 in Sidcup, London), better known by his stage name John Paul Jones, is an English musician and was the bassist and the keyboardist for Led Zeppelin from its inception until the band's breakup following the death of John Bonham in 1980.
		Jones learned his keyboard skills from his father, Joe Baldwin, who was a pianist and arranger for big bands in the 40s and 50s, notably with the Ambrose Orchestra.

		John Paul Jones' skills at arranging were put to great use for the studio tracks "Stairway To Heaven" and "The Rain Song." On "Stairway To Heaven," the song begins with four overdubbed recorders (wooden flutes) that add a beautiful chamber ensemble to Jimmy Page's single guitar intro.
		Jones used the Mk.II for the beautiful string arrangements in "The Rain Song" from Houses of the Holy.
