Lawrence Peyton and their three children, Robert, Armistead, and Emily, all appeared at Aquia and witnessed the solemn burial of the remains of John Peyton, and those of his two wives, Anne’s on his right and Elizabeth’s on his left.
This idea led to a discussion with many Peytons and plans were made to have a meeting at Aquia Church on May 18, 1952, the 192nd anniversary of the death of John Peyton.
Lawrence Peyton was one of the three cousins who met at Aquia in 1936 and arranged for the removal of the remains of John Peyton and his two wives from the “Stony Hill” cemetery to Aquia Churchyard.

In 1797 Bland claimed that Peyton had “rendered himself infamous for his persecution of the Indians” and that “the stories told of this man would shock humanity to relate.” He recommended that Peyton be expelled from the Bay of Exploits.
Shawnadithit was captured by William Cull, an erstwhile servant of Peyton Sr, in 1823.
She was given into the care of Peyton Jr and became a servant in the Peyton household at Exploits for five years.

Peyton was the last head of the Minneapolis Fed to cut his teeth in commercial banking; his successors, from Oliver S. Powell on up to current bank president Gary Stern, rose through the ranks of the Federal Reserve System, or had backgrounds in academia or nonbanking professions.

John Peyton, a former longtime federal prosecutor here who later served as head of the state Department of Public Safety, died this week in a car crash in Africa.
Peyton, 62, who was helping the legal system in Malawi in southeast Africa, and his wife, Eileen, were on vacation on their way to Victoria Falls when they were involved in the car crash, first assistant U.S. attorney Elliott Enoki said.
Peyton's wife was hospitalized, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, Enoki said.
