 Peas
Peas (Pisum sativum) are among the most ancient of agricultural crops known to man, equally as ancient as wheat and barley.
The domestic pea may have arisen as a cross between Pisum humile, a short statured pea from the Near East and Pisum elatius, a tall climber from the humid regions of the Mediterranean to produce Pisum sativus.
The white flowered pea in the Clutius Watercolors is a much smaller pea with smooth seeds, suggesting that it is neither the Rouncival nor the Marrowfat and is likely a very early illustration of the sweeter, smaller peas that became popular late in the 17th century.

We report on the isolation of a cDNA that represents a second 20-oxidase gene of pea which is quite distinct from the first in its nucleotide sequence and profile of expression.
A 20-oxidase partially purified from pea embryos possibly represents the native product of PDS11; this enzyme converted GA53 to the intermediates GA44 and GA19 and not to GA20, but in these experiments the extent of oxidation was influenced by parameters such as incubation time (Lange and Graebe, 1989).

 Phillips Church Planning at PEA
The Ministry of Phillips Church needs to be as concerned with the questions of a seeker of Religion as it is with the practice of a follower of any particular religion.
While we recognize that many see social service as part of a school-wide ministry, above and beyond the specific Ministry of Phillips Church, and while we recognize pragmatic concerns with the current arrangements for ESSO (see 3 below), we believe that the School Ministry must be linked with the school’s program of service.
We knew that the formal aspects of that relationship had changed over the years, and we saw at other schools a variety of models currently in place, so, in line with our overall approach to this report, we decided to discuss this matter, too, in philosophical and forward-looking terms.
