History Of Famous Pirates -- ....Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me...
John Rackham is also known as "Calico Jack" by many due to his preference for calico coats and britches.
Rackham acquired command of his ship the Treasure through the incompetence of its former leader, captain Vane, in neglecting to attack a auspicious French man-of-war, to the dismay of its crew.
Eventually, Rackham turned over control of his ship to the two female pirates Mary Read, and Anne Bonny, the latter of which he had whisked away willingly from her husband, and who had fought at his side in battle after battle.

The marriage of JOHN RACKHAM and ELIZABETH SIMONS is recorded in IGI on 15th August 1830 at Wrentham, about 4 miles south west of Kessingland, near Lowestoft, Suffolk.
However, further research proves that the son born in 1831 was to become Capt. Wilby Rackham.
However unlikely it might be that two sons would have been given the same name during the lifetime of the first born this does seem to be the case.

John Rackham, born in Helena Montana (I come from Montana I wear a bandana, my spurs are of silver, my pony is gray.
Since moving to Portland, Oregon in the early 90’s I have immersed myself in the task of both conserving and curating the extensive bicycle seat collection of the reclusive and eccentric billionaire, John Bearsfort Tipton.
I was also a principal in an unsuccessful and basically misguided attempt at the leveraged buy-out of the shrunken head collection of the comic genius cum mathematician (and songwriter) Tom Lehrer.

This book can be a little intimidating for the beginning illustrator, but to complement the earlier figure reference books, it's well worth adding to your collection when you're ready to move beyond basic figure construction and into (as the title states) dynamic movement and presentation.
It contains many famous and beautiful illustrations from Herbert Draper, George Fredrick Watts, Arthur Rackham, John Collier, Edward Burne-Jones, William Russell Flint, and Fredric Lord Leighton, mixed with insets from medieval manuscripts from the 12th and 14th centuries.
I will proudly list this wonderful comic series as part of my reference list, for it's beautiful layouts, dynamic expressions and body language illustrations, and a perfect example of how good a comic can be when the art and story are properly blended.
