Payne was probably the first native American actor to enact the role of Hamlet, the first American performer to appear on the European stage and the earliest American playwright to have his works produced abroad.
John Howard Payne spent the remainder of his time in Europe collaborating with Washington Irving on several plays, bringing out a small weekly publication called The Opera Glass, adapting numerous other works for the London stage and falling in love with one of the most famous women of the early 19th Century.
Robinson's oratory was based on hearsay, innuendo, distortion and his own prejudiced opinion with enough sweet words to disguise the true effect.

American actor Robert Cummings studied for an engineer's degree at several colleges before concentrating his energies at the American School of Dramatic Arts.
As plain old Robert Cummings, the actor made his film debut in Paramount's So Red the Rose (1935), in which he was killed off in the Civil War before the first reel was over.
In his prime, however, Cummings was one of those rare film actors who managed to retain his fame and popularity even though he made relatively few films of importance.

 Actor Profile: John Wayne/Brian W. Fairbanks-Writer
It is in this film that John Wayne fully became "John Wayne," and achieved a stardom that would soon reach beyond the silver screen into the soul of American society.
Ironically, Wayne, who angered John Ford by avoiding service in WWII for fear it would interrupt the momentum of his career, would be identified in many people’s minds as having won that global conflict single-handedly, thanks to films like The Sands of Iwo Jima.
He has been dismissed as an actor time and time again, yet he played his roles so believably that the facts of his life were made irrelevant by the image on the screen.

Imagine that we had a way of sending actors from Broadway to Hollywood that involved putting them in cars and driving them across the country.
Sometimes the actors got drunk on the way and shaved their heads or got nasal tattoos, thus becoming too ugly to work in Hollywood, and frequently the actors arrived in a different order than they had set out, because they all took different routes.
Without going over the top, each actor managed to convey that they were saying goodbye to someone who meant the world to them.
