Sears was in the Navy during World War II and fought in the Pacific Theatre.
Sears and his five brothers, who were known as the Sears Brothers Orchestra, played for various social organizations and private parties throughout the Merrimack Valley.
John Sears was the bandleader, organizer and comedian and incorporated skits and costumes into their act.

Being the man that Leonard Garment incorrectly identified as Deep Throat in his 2000 book "In Search of Deep Throat." Sears then requested that Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (who unmasked Watergate with the help of Deep Throat) publicly deny it was him, and Bernstein complied.
He started as a law clerk for the NY State Court of Appeals (1963-65), a member of the law firm of Nixon, Mudge, Rose, Alexander, Guthrie and Mitchell 1965-66 and of the staff of Richard M Nixon 1966-69.
He was Deputy Counsel to the President 1969-70, an attorney with the law firm of Gadsby and Hannah in Washington DC 1970-76 and has been a partner in the law firm of Baskin and Sears since 1977.

John Septimus "Jack" Sears (1875-1969) was a Tribune and The Deseret News man, as well as a former J. Harwood student and Mahonri Young colleague and friend who would be a longtime University of Utah Department of Art instructor.
Sears began the study of painting and drawing under Harwood from 1891 to '93.
Jack Sears, who did not die until June 6 of his ninety-fourth year, estimated in 1948 that he had completed some 25,000 drawings and sketches during a career that included also the creation of many landscapes and portraits.

Many old timers will recall the days of half a century and more ago when Sears Hill was almost solid woodland and a stream of water from numerous springs came down the hill, crossed the road and went into the gully which ran parallel with what has since become Hill street.
Sears Hill was named after a Franco-American pioneer Richard Cyr, who came here in early days when the town of Altamont was erected in 1890 and the lumbering boom was started.
It is pronounced Sears in English and after ‘Dick’ Sears built a large boarding house on the brow of the hill, the name Sears’ Hill was applied to that district.
