John Seymour (Tudor) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A proposed marriage between Jane Seymour and William Dormer was rejected by the Dormers partially due to the scandal and because of the family's less-than-noble pedigree: the Seymour family was of the gentry.
Jane Seymour, the eldest daughter, was a maid in the household of Henry's first wife, Catherine of Aragon, and then later to his second queen, the brilliant and imperious Anne Boleyn.
John died on December 21, 1536, but his royal daughter did not attend the funeral, nor did she (or any of the rest of his children) seem to have been greatly affected by his death.

Luminarium Encyclopedia: Thomas Seymour, Lord High Admiral.
THOMAS SEYMOUR, BARON SEYMOUR OF SUDELEY, lord high admiral of England, was fourth son of Sir John Seymour of Wolf Hall, Wiltshire, and younger brother of the Protector Edward Seymour, 1st duke of Somerset.
Seymour's connexions thus ensured his promotion, and he quickly won the favour of the king, who gave him many grants of land and employed him in the royal household and on diplomatic missions abroad.
Henry VIII left Seymour a legacy by his will, and is said to have directed that he should be raised to the peerage.

Jane Seymour: Biography, Portraits, Primary Sources
Her father was Sir John Seymour of Wolf Hall in Wiltshire; he served in the Tournai campaign of 1513 and accompanied Henry VIII to the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520.
Sir John was able to secure appointments at court for his family; of his eight children, three would come to historical prominence - the eldest son Edward as duke of Somerset and Lord Protector, another son Thomas as Lord Admiral and husband of Henry VIII's last queen, and his daughter Jane as queen of England.
The Seymour rise to prominence at Henry's court mirrored that of the Boleyns; it was the path sought by all English families with a minor pedigree or clever son.

 Luminarium Encyclopedia: Jane Seymour
Jane Seymour, the third consort of Henry the Eighth, was the eldest daughter of Sir John Seymour, or Wolf Hall, Wilts, and Margaret, daughter of Sir John Wentworth, of Nettlestead in Suffolk.
The Seymours, a Norman family, came to England with William the Conqueror, and increased their wealth and influence by alliances with rich heiresses of noble blood.
Henry was particularly desirous that Jane Seymour should receive the honours of a coronation; but the prevalence of the plague at Westminster, and Jane's advanced state of pregnancy, caused the ceremony to be put off till after her confinement, when her unexpected death prevented her from being crowned at all.
