In 1767 a dispute arose between John Tempest, executor of John Petre, and acting lord of the manor of Stanford Rivers, and Timothy Graves of Littlebury, whose wife was the daughter of Mrs.
Traceys was one of the manors quitclaimed by John son of John de Rivers to the Earl of Stafford in 1359.

Stafford died there on May 5, 1556, but the Privy Council was unaware of this when ten days later it ordered that 'no payment of money by exchange or otherwise' was to reach him.
She appealed to Stafford's younger brother and the threat to invoke French aid persuaded Calvin to yield.
