  John Stevens (New Jersey) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1716 – 10 May 1792) was delegate to the Continental Congress from New Jersey in 1783.
He was born (either in 1715 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey or on 21 October 1716 in New York City when his mother was visiting there), the son of John Stevens and his wife Ann Campbell.
He married Elizabeth Alexander, daughter of James Alexander, Surveyor general of New Jersey and New York and counsel for Peter Zenger, in 1748.

His pieces are contained in Osborn's 'Poetical Works of John and Charles Wesley,' 1868-1872, 13 vols.; but it is difficult to apportion in all cases the respective work of the two brothers.

The petition of John Jones, William Cheney, and others on the East Side of the Mill River to be erected a separate precinct from Mendon was presented to the House of Representatives 27 Nov. 1735 (Journals, 13-126), and dismissed the following December because of the opposition of other families in the same locality (ibid., 13-174).
The will of John Jones (Worcester County A33893) was written in Mendon 11 Dec. 1749 and was probated 9 May 1753.
When the will was first presented there were objections from some of the heirs; it was stated by them that Susannah was living in Rhode Island, and that Jonathan was living in Vermont and could not have heard the terms of the will.
