My wife and I have camped at John Tanner 6 times in the past 9 years and it does not have a lot of activities but that is why we like it.
The beach is in the day use area across a small parking lot from the campground.
John Tanner only had 2 small ones and not much to see on those.

We like Georgia State Parks and at one time our goal was to camp at all of them, but we will probably skip this one.
The CG part of the park is smallish, but there is usually a nice atmosphere.
We overnighted there last May for two nights, and liked the park, only problem was when we were there the dump station was closed, I think due to severe rainwater flooding.

I don't know what it was about this race, maybe the narrow start area, but the swim was a brawl.
