John Taylor (May 4, 1770 - April 16, 1832) was the Democratic-Republican governor of South Carolina from 1826 to 1828.
After school, Taylor served served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1793 to 1802 and again from 1804 to 1805.
Taylor was finally elected to state governor in 1826.

William Jesse, a gallant Confederate lieutenant, was the son of General William Jesse Taylor, Sr (1806-1876) and Alexina Jessie Muir (1812-1857), and the grandson of Governor John Taylor of South Carolina.
John Chesnut (1743-1818), brought to S.C. by his mother and stepfather when he was 13,began as an apprentice but by the time he was 23 was a partner in the Kershaw stores in Camden.
John Chesnut was paymaster in the 3rd Carolina Regiment, a delegate to the Provincial Congress in 1775, and then served as a Colonel in the Revolutionary War.

John Cassell, Jr was born 1842 in South Carolina, the son of John Cassell Sr and apparently was not married.
He also said that a man(unnamed) was afraid of the Taylor boys(Carroll Taylor's sons) so he left for Texas with a Negro man. He camped for the night on Witt's Springs Mountain with the Negro and someone shot into the firelight and killed the Negro.
John L Russell lived in the Witts Springs community in 1860 but he is gone by the end of the War according to the tax list.

John died in 1846 so there is no 1851 Census entry for him informing us of his birth place (which doesn't appear to have been in the Hempnall area, the origin of so many of this family earlier).
John's son James (bn 1790, the second given this name) appears not to have married and by 1841 was living in Salhouse with his widowed mother Elizabeth (nee Moon) then aged 80+.
This latter John Jermy was buried in Reedham in 1760.

The substance of these resolutions was embodied in the " Macon Bill, No. i," which passed the House but was defeated in the Senate.
On the 7th of April 1810 Macon reported from committee the " Macon Bill, No. 2," which had been drawn by John Taylor (1770-1832) of South Carolina, and was not actively supported by him.
In 1812 Macon voted for the declaration of war against Great Britain, and later was chairman of the Congressional committee which made a report (July 1813) condemning Great Britain's conduct of the war.
