It was cast in 1995 by John Taylor Bellfounders Ltd. of Loughborough, Leicestershire and was hung in the pit of the original ring of five’s treble by Whites of Appleton, Oxfordshire.
It was the former treble of the old ring of five and was cast in 1723 by Henry Penn, bellfounder, of Peterborough.
It was re-cast in 1884 by John Taylor, bellfounder, of Loughborough, Leicestershire after the original pre-reformation bell had become cracked.

By 1946 serious repair work was required to not only some of the bells but also to the structure of the bellframe, obviously the pivots had by this time worn badly, so the new frame consisted of cast iron, and rolled steel was used for the foundation.

The Duke carillon was the gift of George G. Allen and William R. Perkins, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Duke Endowment.
