John Torode runs Smiths of Smithfield, a four-floor space restaurant, private dining room and a café, located near London's Smithfield market, and is well-known as the weekly food columnist for Weekend magazine in The Mail on Saturday.
John has been credited as one of the main players to introduce Australasian food to the UK in the mid '90's and is infatuated with rare breed meat, organic food and the farming process.
John was part of the judging panel for the Glenfiddich Food and Drink awards in 2002, and regularly contributes to Olive magazine.

My name is Brian Torode, I live in Arundel in West Sussex on the South Coast of England, and I have been researching our family name for five years.
She told me that her father Alfred John Torode(I don't know my grandmothers name and they both died before I was old enough to remeber them)was one of two brothers brought up in Guernsey, Alfred john moved to Devon the other brother stayed in Guernsey and raised his own family.
If anyone would like to trace their Torode family tree, or has connections to the Torode family that they would like information on, then please contact me. If you can trace anyone in your family back to the Census of 1901, then I can very probably trace your family tree for you.
