A Bridgett White was also the second wife of a Robert Wight (1578–1617) of Hareby, Lincolnshire, England whom he married on November 25, 1613 at Alford.
John White of Stanton St John This same "John White of Stanton St John" who died in 1618 respectfully had a son by the name of the Rev. John White (1575–1648) of Dorchester who himself became famous as the "Founder of Massachusetts", the colony.
The above-mentioned nephew Francis Drake was the son of Richard Drake and Ursula Stafford, grandson of John Drake and Amy Grenville (1510–1577), and great-grandson of the same above-mentioned John Drake and Margaret Cole.

The granting of a coat of arms in 1587 suggests the rise of White in the social scale because of his new position; yet, the quartering of his arms tells little about him other than the mere possibility of a connection with the Whites of Truro in Cornwall.
White's wife is never mentioned and she probably died before he joined Ralegh's efforts.
There is a possibility that White went on a voyage in 1601 and it may have been he who died in May 1606 when Bridgit White was appointed administratix of the estate of her brother John White, "late of parts beyond the seas...."

White County was formed in 1806 from Smith and Jackson Counties.
John had to fight the Cherokee Indians for the right to live on the land, for the Cherokee were not confined to the Cumberland Plateau until the 2nd Treaty of Holston in 1791.

There have been a number of first hand accounts of the voyage by men who were on board the ships, including the very readable "A Narrative of the Expedition to Botany Bay" by Watkin Tench, one of the marines.
The publication of his journal with so many colur plates indicates that White took more than a passing interest in the flora and fauna of the new colony.
History has shown, of course, that White's judgment regarding the future of the colony was incorrect; but his observation about Sydney Harbour, that it was the "finest and most extensive harbour in the universe", has stood the test of time.

In 1585 White, an artist and cartographer, accompanied the voyage from England to the Outer Banks of North Carolina under a plan of Sir Walter Raleigh to settle "Virginia." White was at Roanoke Island for about thirteen months before returning to England for more supplies.
In his engravings, De Bry took certain liberties with White's images, and including them together here gives students and teachers everywhere the opportunity to use this material as a pedagogical resource on English views of native people.
