Johnson - Historic Johnstown, New York, USA
Johnson's ambitions and hopes for the future of his heirs lay with the Crown, but his human sympathies, his love for his neighbors, red and white, which had always governed his conduct, drew him in the other direction.
When Johnson was a bachelor in his early twenties and in need of a housekeeper for his frontier home, he took Catherine Weissenberg, a young refugee from the Palatinate, who, like so many others, was bound to service for a few years for her passage to the land of promise.
Johnson had a room set apart for study and scientific experiments, and he conducted a scholarly correspondence with Doctor Cadwallader Colden, Benjamin Franklin, and other learned men of the Society for the Promotion of Arts in America, a trustee of Queen's University, now Rutgers, and he helped to launch King's College, now Columbia University.

Deep Throat, Antihero - His unmasking makes everybody look a little less noble. By Timothy Noah
The Hooverites' bureaucratic anxieties were well-founded: After the Watergate break-in, Hoover's acting successor, a Nixon loyalist named L. Patrick Gray, routinely passed FBI files about Watergate directly to White House counsel John Dean, who was a party to (but eventually would expose) the White House's illegal coverup.
Yet Felt was not a "White House source." It's conceivable that Deep Throat was an additional, unacknowledged source on the story, but it's also possible that Woodward and Bernstein were misleading readers about where they got their information.
Hoover loyalists at the bureau were frantic that President Richard Nixon would get his mitts on the FBI, which Hoover had kept independent of political control through a variety of nasty methods, including blackmail.

 Nashwaak River History
When white men began to settle in the lower Nashwaak area in the 17th century, the Nashwaak River was one of the main Indian portage routes from the St. John River to the north-eastern part of the province.
The first permanent English settlements occurred with the granting of 20,000 acres along the Nashwaak to the St. John River Society in 1765, but the main settlement came after the American Revolution when disbanded United Empire Loyalist regiments were granted land on the Nashwaak.
The French Governor Villebon, who built Fort St. Joseph [Fort Nashwaak] at the mouth of the river in 1692, remained in close touch with the Indians, and directed them in thier raids against the New England settlements.
