Michael York and John Bell Young
Michael York's narration and voices in dialect are top-drawer artistry and bring the drama and environment, and the ambience of the Victorian era into such a realm that one is completely absorbed--transported back to that time, to live the experiences of the characters.
The sheer breadth of expression in York’s recitation was fabulous, and his flexibility in setting tempos and phrasing an inspiration.
The chemistry between York and Young can be heard in the pensive opening measures, and it continues throughout…As the music and poetry climax in the Prelude and Allegro agitato sections of part two, the piano intensity is beautifully balanced with the narrative.

This society would be known as the York Diocesan Society for the Education of the Poor in the Principles of the Established Church to further the work of the National Society in the northern provinces.
The idea behind this was not to equip the children of the 'labouring classes' for social mobility, rather to enable them to be content with their station in life or in other words, 'calculated to render them useful and respected members of society'.
In 1812 the diocese of York was one of the largest in England, for it included the entire county of York, the rural deaneries of Richmond, Catterick and Boroughbridge excepted (these three deaneries being part of the unwieldy diocese of Chester), and the entire county of Nottingham.
