Probably the most prominent US politician involved in this issue is renowned heart transplant surgeon doctor Bill Frist, now better known as the Republican US Senate Majority Leader, who is defending what has been widely seen as a medical diagnosis made from the Senate floor.
BBSNews - 2005-06-17 - With the release of the results from Terri Schiavo's autopsy, many politicians have been forced to look back on what they said leading to fast track legislation designed to interfere with well-settled Florida state guardianship law, in particular law pertaining to end of life decisions.
Here is the U.S. Senate that normally does not and should not get involved in all of these private-action cases.

BLOGDIAL : We are the best
wear my white feather and put up with the abuse i would undoubtedly get from those too old or young to fight, but perhaps they believe it is right...
i was going to say that it takes an event like this to remind us of the fact, to show us that in many ways we are a more crude creature than those we record, but i'm not sure, after witnessing the immediate calls for retribution, that we want or are capable of being shown...............
the us will be happy, they have their man. they always get their man. and "peace" will be restored to the middle east...

Pols on Film  - How do you tell a real politician from a Hollywood politician? In the movies, your man always ends up on the Straight Talk Express.  By David Edelstein
He tempers his crusty chief of staff (John Spencer) and plays Ward Cleaver to his rambunctious young 'uns (the marvelous Richard Schiff and Bradley Whitford, not to mention Rob Lowe—redeemed!).
In that film, the candidate (Spencer Tracy) is a popular businessman handpicked to make a run for the presidency by voracious Republicans, among them his wealthy mistress (a young and steely Angela Lansbury—not yet ready to sell out to the Red Chinese).

Based on the John Grisham novel the film stars Tommy Lee Jones who plays a federal prosecutor only interested in getting information from a young boy who witnessed an important witnesses final moments without any regard for his welfare.
Mary-Louise Parker's Dianne Sway truly brings to life the young besieged trailer park mom desperately trying to get a grip on her life, and Anthony LaPaglia finally is simultaneously frightening and unintentionally funny as the slick but not overly bright mob killer Barry "The Blade" Muldanno, the source of Clifford's (and consequently everybody else's) problems.
As in most of his thrillers, we get a whole handful in "The Client": the slimy mafia lawyer, the power-hungry politician-to-be, the self-aggrandizing ambulance-chaser, the grandfatherly judge and, of course, the motherly family law practitioner who turned to legal practice after overcoming a few troubles of her own.

SIR JOSEPH WILLIAMSON - LoveToKnow Article on SIR JOSEPH WILLIAMSON
Young Williamson's maternal grandfather was a lapidary, and from him he learnt the art of cutting stones, an accomplishment which he found of great use in later years, when he undertook his work on the structure of fossil plants.
(1633-1701), English politician, was born at Bridekirk, near Cockermouth, his father, Joseph Williamson, being vicar of this place.
Williamsons work in fossil botany was scarcely appreciated at the time as it deserved, for its great merits were somewhat obscured by the authors want of familiarity with the modern technicalities of the science.
