  Johnson City, KS
Johnson City is the county seat of Stanton [ST] County.  The trees that define the town are a welcome sight on the flat prairies and huge fields that cover the area.  Highway K-27 and US-160 intersect at Johnson City and the Cimarron Valley (formerly Santa Fe) railroad also serves through the town.
Johnson City was founded by Civil War veterans and was first called Veteran.
In 1886 the town was moved 7 miles and renamed for Colonel A. Johnson, one of the veterans.

A full-page map of Kansas City is included in the study to illustrate the distribution of TIF plans with demographic information by Council District.
Kansas City will be hosting a coordinated event similar to those to be held around the country, and will be expecting several thousand participants in a Mass Peace Gathering to be held on March 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.

I initially drove to Dodge City and then to Syracuse, Kansas, but turned south to Johnson, Kansas to intercept the southernmost storm (also known as "tail end Charlie") of a short line that had developed over the high plains of eastern Colorado.
Driving south from Syracuse toward Johnson City, the turbulent underside of the rain free base (RFB) could be seen 20 to 30 miles west of the highway.
This meant driving several miles east to the main highway, then south through Johnson City and continuing 15 to 20 miles south through a sparsely populated area to the next east/west highway intersection.
