Johnson County is a county located in the state of Texas.
Camp Henderson became the new county seat and the settlement was renamed Cleburne in honor of Confederate General Patrick Cleburne.
In the county, the population is spread out with 28.80% under the age of 18, 8.80% from 18 to 24, 30.20% from 25 to 44, 22.30% from 45 to 64, and 10.00% who are 65 years of age or older.

Tarrant County consists of 898 square miles of gently sloping to level terrain with elevation ranging from 420 feet in the southeast to 960 feet in the northwest.
The population of the county rose from 41,142 in 1890 to 152,800 in 1920.
By 1960 the population of the county had soared to 538,495, an increase of 67 percent, and in 1970 the census recorded 716,317 county inhabitants, an increase of 75 percent.

Sam Ealy, the younger Johnson brother, is known to history as grandfather of 36th president of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson.
Her father, newly-appointed County Judge S. White, had gone to Blanco on July 21, 1869, when Thomas and Eliza were killed by a band of Indians on Cypress Creek.
In 1937, the Johnson's eldest son, Lyndon (1908-1973), launched his first campaign for Congress, and his ascent to the U.S. presidency, from the east porch.

In Johnson County, as an example, there was the "Hole-in-the-Wall," wherein resided various outlaws who preyed on cattle interests such as J. Carey's CY Ranch.
Such terms were, of course, mild in comparison with those which Johnson County people would apply to him twenty years later when he was a leader of the big cattlemen's invasion of their county.
Later he trailed cattle up from Texas and joined the Niedringhaus Brothers' N Bar N. By 1892, he was riding for the W L Ranch in Johnson County, but was fired when he refused to join the regulators.

Hopewell Cemtery is one of the most beatuiful of the hilly sections of the Crosstimmbers in Johnson County located appromixately two miles northwest of Keene and about three miles east of Cleburne on County Road 701.
The land for the cemetery was donated by O.Perry Arnold in the late 1800's.
The cemetery was neglected for many years, but in 1989 The Johnson County Cemetery Association was formed and shortly there after The Hopewell Cemetery Association was formed which started to clean up the cemetery.
