Formation And Origins Of Hawthorn F.C.
When its ground at East Melbourne was required for the Jolimont Railway yards, it was homeless and, as it did not desire to move to the City of Essendon with its mentor, it merged with the Hawthorn Club.
The VFL corrected the East Melbourne ground problem - which obviously hadn't occurred as Essendon continued there until 1921 - by not including it, but also continued the myth of Hawthorn moving to Glenferrie in 1903.
The VFL had changed the passage (which had been poorly written in the first place) of Hawthorn merging with Waterloo F.C. who were now known as Boroondara to Hawthorn merging with Waterloo and now Hawthorn were called Boroondara, before evidently changing their name back again.
