  Jomala - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jomala is a municipality of Åland, an autonomous territory of Finland.
It is not known where the name Jomala comes from but it has been suggested that "jom" comes from the name of the Viking god Jom and "ala" means "place".
The church of Jomala is dedicated to the patron saint of Åland, St. Olav.

This aroused interest in the municipality of Jomala and they came up with the idea of showing tourists and interested local what happened at a traditional peasant wedding.
The wedding dress was copied from an old wedding dress from 1878 found in an attic and the bridal headpiece or crown was made as a copy of the one in the painting.
Since then Jomala municipality has arranged a wedding complete with bride, groom and procession true to the old tradition.
