Barry, son of Hall of Fame member Rick Barry and brother of two other NBA players, will sign with the Nuggets by the middle of the week, Vandeweghe said Sunday.
JonBarry, 34, spent the past two seasons with Detroit.
JonBarry averaged 6.9 points for the Pistons last season and compiled a career average of 5.7 points per game.
Barry added another veteran presence to what had been the oldest roster in the NBA.
Not only did Houston appreciate Barry's play, Barry was also grateful for being placed on a team that has the opportunity to play and contend for a NBA World Championship.
A 13-year veteran of the NBA, Barry has played for eight different teams (Milwaukee, Golden State, Atlanta, the LA Lakers, Sacramento, Detroit, Denver and Houston) and has participated in the playoffs with six of those respective teams.
Rick Barry also joined the team that year as a free agent, with the Rockets sending John Lucas to Golden State Warriors as compensation.
The future Hall of Famer, now in the twilight of his career, averaged a modest 13.5 points.
Murphy, the shortest player in the league, sets two NBA records, sinking 78 consecutive free throws to break Rick Barry's mark of 60 set in 1976 and achieving a free-throw percentage of.958 (breaking Barry's record set with the Rockets in 1979).
HOUSTON -- JonBarry re-signed with the Rockets on Thursday after joining the team in December from Atlanta and providing Houston with strong 3-point shooting.
Barry averaged seven points in 53 games for the Rockets.

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Nuggets GM Kiki Vandeweghe and coach George Karl hope to again speak soon with JonBarry, a free-agent guard who interests the Nuggets.
Barry, waived Wednesday by the Houston Rockets, said Sunday he is leaning toward retiring.
Barry is better known for his defensive prowess and is not someone worth adding to a Fantasy roster.
