Jon was introduced to Kurzweil twenty years ago, having used a K250 while working on Pink Floyd's Momentary Lapse of Reason album.
Kurzweils were the main keyboards used on a number of Jon's other successful projects as well: The Who's Quadrophenia tour, Roger Waters' In The Flesh tour, album and DVD, Waters' Flickering Flame album, and a series of live shows with Pete Townshend for the Maryville Academy.
Jon started his career in his teens as a recording artist recording several hits in Europe with the band Industry.

 David Gilmour: Jon Carin
Jon's musicianship is obviously outstanding, his contributions are obvious and he appears to be a really decent bloke but (and I am going to get a beating here) classing him as the 6th member of Pink Floyd is a bit strong.
For Jon to be able to perform for both PF legends must feel like an honor (you know he's having a blast anyway) and I don't think anybody could be more at ease with it than the three of them.
Jon Carin is a highly competent musician who is hired to do a job, which he does admirably.

Jon told me that a roadie said the setlist for the show was going to be different from the one they played during the rehearsal last night...
Jon said that videos were being projected onto a 40 ft. screen (consumes a large part of the stage setup).
Jon Carin handled the multiple chores of keyboards, vocals and acoustic guitar all at once (the only thing he didn't do was spin a plate on a stick) with Doyle providing harmony.

Jon, of course, talked the most, but there were some cool things said by all members.
He seems quite happy to be where he is, and reminds me a lot of Jon Carin, who I've seen with Pink Floyd, The Who, and Roger Waters.
He's not a bandmember, but is quite good, and at his age, I can see him playing with many, many bands.

The triple guitar attack of Doyle Bramhall II, Snowy White, and Andy Fairweather-Low (augmented by Jon Carin and Roger himself) is a very potent axe outfit.
As I mentioned the guitarists are competent, Jon Carin and Andy Wallace easily handle the keyboard parts, the backing vocalists are great, and Graham Broad is perhaps a better drummer than Nick Mason.
Bramhall sings the rest of Dave's parts (except for Jon Carin's vocal on Dogs and the backing vocalists singing on Mother), as well as Rick Wright's parts on Time.

Carin is an awesome musician--he can do keys, guitar, steel guitar, and he can sing Gilmour's lead parts and backup parts great.

In June 1996, The Who (credited as "Townsend, Entwistle, Daltrey present Quadrophenia") were to play a charity gig for the Quadrophenia celebration, but Pete Townsend gets injured, being unable to play electric guitar, so Roger Daltrey calls Geoff Whitehorn to play with them during June and July.
It was reported that Jon has written some songs with Richard Butler (from Love Spit Love, formerly in Psychedelic Furs) in 1998, but these songs haven't been released until now.
