Jon Wefald (born November 24, 1937, in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American educator and the twelfth President of Kansas State University, holding that position since 1986.
Wefald was born in Minneapolis and moved, at age six, with his family to Minot, North Dakota.
Wefald earned his M.A. in Political Science from Washington State University in 1961, and Ph.D. in History from the University of Michigan in 1965.

ANHATTAN -- Kansas State University President Jon Wefald is recovering from weekend surgery for an undisclosed medical condition, the university said Monday.
Wefald, president since 1986, had "successful routine surgery" Sunday at Mercy Health Center in Manhattan for an internal problem, university spokeswoman Cheryl May said.
Wefald was admitted Sunday and was expected to stay a couple more days, returning to work in seven to 10 days, May said.
