Topic: Jonah Sharp

  Jonah
Aside from the information given in the book of Jonah, the only fact known about him is that at some time during the reign of Jeroboam, or earlier, he predicted the restoration of the northern border of Israel (v 25).
Although Jonah is cast overboard, his life is spared by "a great fish" (v 17), in whose belly he spends the next "three days and three nights"—one 24-hour period, together with unspecified portions of the day preceding and the day following.
Jonah’s prayer of repentance is honoured, and the fish deposits him "upon the dry land" (ch 2:1, 10).

Jonah Sharp's music career is marked first and foremost by experimentalism.
Utilizing analog synthesizers, percussion samples from a live drumkit, and smooth saxophone and harmonica parts laid down by jazz buddies Brian Iddenden and Damien Masterson, Jonah Sharp has fused old school techno with jazz.

Sharp left Scotland in his teens and became immersed in London's acid jazz/rare groove scene as a drummer before being drawn to the blossoming "intelligent techno" genre.
Sharp's extensive sonic palette is undiminished, but he juggles juxtapositions of both timbre and rhythm, using light, playful breakbeats to underpin slower-moving ambient textures.
Sharp is also a prodigious collaborator, with projects on his own Reflective label (known for its inventive, shiny packaging), ambient guru Pete Namlook's Fax label and others.

 Splendid E-zine reviews: Spacetime Continuum
I'm not sure what Jonah Sharp (aka Spacetime Continuum) has been up to in the years since his last album, but he hasn't ignored his peers.
There are also regular moments of saxophone-induced bliss; Sharp uses the sax to lead listeners along twisting, turning alternate routes through the melody, instigating detours and altering tempos as he wishes.
But if you've followed Sharp's progression for the last six years, you'll probably be pleased by the direction he's taken, and all the more willing to follow him further.

Sharp left London for America in the early '90s, settling in San Francisco, where he established his Reflective label and recorded the bulk of his work to date.

Another great release from the consistently excellent Tetsu Inoue, this time in collaboration with Jonah Sharp, whose influence can be clearly discerned.
The centrepiece is the mammoth 47 minute opener "Morphing Cloud", a delicately crafted floating soundscape, with a central section of disjointed rhythm interrupting the otherwise smooth, beatless waves of ambience, complemented by a smattering of spacy sounds.
I actually didn't like Sea Biscuit that much or the two Alien Communities so I thought the Jonah Sharp collaboration with Tetsu (Electro Harmonix) was going to be weak but there are some very nice sounds in there.
