Embattled Greenland Premier Jonathan Motzfeldt is still the leader of Greenland's home rule government, but he's resigned as head of the Siumut party.
Motzfeldt has been widely blamed for a three billion-krøne ($581 million) deficit in Greenland's main export fish and seafood company, Royal Greenland.
Motzfeldt was Greenland's first premier from 1979 until 1991, when he was ousted by Lars-Emil Johansen.

The representative of Greenland at the meeting is member of parliament for the leftist party IA, Josef Motzfeldt, who recently formed government with the socialdemocratic Siumut party.
IA is working for a demilitarization of Greenland, as well as a greater degree of independence from Denmark, including matters of foreign policy, so it could be difficult to make Greenland endorse the NMD.
