Christopher Nolan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nolan, in an interview with Empire dated July 2005, stated, "I guess I just didn't write quickly enough." The project was ultimately abandoned.
Nolan had said that while he was content with his directing resumé, he had always dreamed as a child to direct a big blockbuster film, and he got his first opportunity to do so in 2003.
While Nolan wrote the screenplay for this adaptation of the Ruth Rendell novel, he looks unlikely to direct it, reportedly since it "has a lot in common with the three films [Nolan has] made" [1].

Jonathan Nolan (COL ’99), creative force behind the psychological thriller Memento, didn’t have a 4.0 when he graduated from Georgetown in 1999.
The course exposed Nolan to a condition called anteriograde amnesia, whereby a person recalls the details of his or her life but cannot formulate new memories, instead living in a constrictive and confusing box of time.
Nolan did wind up in New Zealand, but his sojourn there was hardly glamorous: he worked as a cowboy and slept on top of a deep freezer whose humming would keep him up at night.

Directed by newcomer Christopher Nolan, Memento has blown the minds of audiences around the world by deftly forging a reality in which neither the lead character nor the audience know who is pulling the strings, until everything that seemed true flips upside down.
Nolan’s dry personality makes the track seem a little slow at times, but he nonetheless offers a lot of solid information about the movie.
Nolan helps explain some issues that can seem confusing, like the alternate use of fl and white or color photography, and he generally provides a compelling and useful discussion of the production.

NOLAN: If that’s true, that’s great, because I really wanted to use the structure of the movie as a way of reawakening some of the things that used to be so valued in the genre: the paranoia and exaggeration in our everyday insecurities.
JONATHAN NOLAN: The idea started to come to me while Chris was finishing up Following, at a point where I had taken a semester off from college, and was doing some traveling.
NOLAN: I hadn’t completely finished writing the story when I first told Chris about it, which was while we were driving across country, from Chicago to L.A. The story kind of became the film during that drive, and I never published it.
