Jonathan Russell (1771-1832), diplomat, was born in Providence on February 27, 1771, the son of Jonathan and Abigail (Russell) Russell.
His father was descended from John Russell, a 1640 resident of Charlestown, Massachusetts, to whom his mother of the same surname was not related.
Russell had no skill as a forensic or parliamentary speaker; but, as a writer, he possessed versatile and eminent gifts.

 Bertrand Russell
Russell's contributions to logic and the foundations of mathematics include his discovery of Russell's paradox, his defense of logicism (the view that mathematics is, in some significant sense, reducible to formal logic), his development of the theory of types, and his refining of the first-order predicate calculus.
Russell's response was to introduce the axiom of reducibility, an axiom that lessened the vicious circle principle's scope of application, but which many people claimed was too ad hoc to be justified philosophically.
Russell's social influence stems from three main sources: his long-standing social activism, his many writings on the social and political issues of his day, and his popularizations of technical writings in philosophy and the natural sciences.

Jonathan was the son of a preacher man. He was born out West, to a Methodist reverend (not a missionary, though--he was a longstanding local clergyman) and his dainty, schoolteacher wife.
Jonathan's father wasn't so big on his young'uns reading secular works besides their textbooks, but he also wasn't too keen on fighting with his wife, so Jonathan read a great deal in his early years (though he loved the Bible best of all).

Russell John was beaten to death by repeated blows from "fists" and "kicks" delivered to his face and head area.
Further, the fact that Russell was beaten "to a pulp," so to speak, causing death, suggests to me, and strongly so, that the force used by Arvin and his nephew was, as a matter of law, unreasonable and excessive.
