Jordan and his team were well known for a "rock and roll" attitude which added colour and character to Formula One in the 1990s.
Jordan had a brief stint as a race driver in the late 1970s and ran a successful Formula Three and Formula 3000 team, called Eddie Jordan Racing, in the late 1980s.
Frentzen was replaced by test driver Ricardo Zonta at the German Grand Prix, but thereafter in 2001 Jean Alesi, in the final stages of his Formula One career, took the seat.

Edmund "Eddie" Jordan (born March 30, 1948) is the founder and former owner of Jordan Grand Prix, a Formula One constructor which operated from 1991 to 2005.
In 1974 Jordan moved on to Formula Ford, where he competed for two years, but was forced to sit out the 1976 season when he broke both his legs in a crash.
Jordan retained complete ownership of his team until 2004 and his rejections of rumoured approaches for buy outs (most notably from Peugeot and Honda) may have cost the team greater success.

The Jordan Grand Prix Information Site has been going now for over 4 years having first seen the light of day back in February 1998.
Jordan have been my Formula One team since Phoenix in 1991 and they will continue to be so, although it is a struggle at times to be as excited about Jordan or F1 as I used to be.
Hopefully the days of the Jordan brand being associated with all types of unrelated products are gone and the focus is again 100% on F1 and racing.
