		Many of the Finnish top names like; Jorma Kinnunen, Hannu Siitonen, Tapio Korjus, Tiina Lillak, Tuula Laaksalo have over the years guidedthese young throwers on their way to the top and have given them valuable advice on the way!
		Many of the successful throwers nowadays have at a younger age taken part in the Javelin School, ex Kimmo Kinnunen, Heli Rantanen, Aki Parviainen, Mikaela Inberg, Taina Uppa and Harri Haatainen.

		The rough set-up of the School is a series of 12-14 stations or areas of instruction that are each about an hour long; general and specific conditioning, technique drills, flexibility, weight training, medicine balls, runup work, throwing technique and video review are all covered.
		There was a question and answer session with a panel of Lusis, Hohn, Jorma Kinnunen, Mikke Ingburg, Matti Narhi and Marius Corbett, 1997 World Champion from South Africa.
		There was a competition of wheelchair throwers, a throwing exhibition testing new javelins by Apollo and a "Historic" competition that I was invited to join into; over age 35 athletes throwing 600g javelins.

		Jorma Kinnunen, world recordholder in 1969, to whom a statute stands alongside the athletics track in Pihtipudas, is the rock upon which the coaching structure of the carnival is based.
		As well as guiding his son Kimmo to the 1991 World title, Jorma Kinnunen’s coaching reputation attracts many former international stars to the Carnival each year.
		Olympic champions and world record breakers such as Janis Lusis (LAT), Tom Petranoff (USA), Uwe Hohn (GDR) and Miklos Nemeth (HUN) are regular visitors and all come to coach at the school.

	Runner's & Triathlete's Web Athletics: Olympian threw skills into coaching
		Not knowing where to go in Helsinki when he landed and carrying his javelins, a policeman, thinking he was there for the meet, drove him to the athlete's residence.
		He hooked up with Kinnunen, who invited him to stay for a 10-day training camp.
		The experience greatly improved his understanding of the sport, which he has used to coach hundreds of javelin throwers in Ottawa and across Canada.

		It's a great advantage particularly if you have the competitors head to go with it.
		How can you fail to be inspired when you go to the now famous javelin carnival meet, as I did as a 12 year old thrower and see names like Jorma Kinnunen, Hannu Siitonen, Tiina Lillak, Seppo Raty, Tapio Korjus.
		All I could think at the time was, " this is what I want to do!" At 12 years old, I did many different sports but javelin was always number one.

	GE Money Grand Prix - History
		An American Ralph Mann, who beat Slain with a time of 48,90 was rewarded the best athlete’s price of the World Games.
		Just before the World Games Jorma Kinnunen had thrown a new world record of 92,70 meters in Tampere.
		In a brilliant 5000-meter-run eight national records were broken and Jorma Kinnunen won the javelin with the result that was over 85 meters.

		That's why Ratina has been permitted to use the word 'Olympic' when talking about the area.
		For athletics, the stadium is famous especially for two world records in Javelin, Jorma Kinnunen's throw of 92,70 in 1969 and Tiina Lillak's of 74,76 in 1983.
