	UN Secretary General Kofi Annan Visits Angola
		In his meeting with President Jos Eduardo dos Santos later that same day, the Secretary General briefed the President on his meeting with Savimbi and spoke optimistically about the promises he had received from the UNITA leader, saying the meeting was a "decisive and concrete" step in the peace process.
		In return, the Secretary General told Prime Minister van Dunem and the assembled guests that he hoped all the obstacles toward unity and national reconciliation could be cleared soon and he called on UNITA to comply with its obligations under the Lusaka Protocol.
		While in Luanda, the Secretary General also chaired a session of the Joint Commission where he told Commission members that he was "profoundly encouraged" with the steps taken to consolidate the peace process.
