According to Muslim leaders in Jos, about eight or nine Muslims were arrested in Shendam in connection with the attack of February 24, 2004.  They were charged with culpable homicide and detained in Jos.
Both Muslims and Christians have complained about the low level of arrests of people who organized or participated in the violence.  However, when a few people were arrested, each side was quick to complain that its own members were being targeted disproportionately and that the police and government’s approach was one-sided.
