Already Lanner was fast gaining reputation at the end of the 1825 Carnival season and Strauss I was frustrated at having to deputise when necessary and as a result, his works were not getting the recognition he thought it deserved.
Lanner himself was appointed to the coveted post of Musik-Direktor of the Redoutensäle in the Imperial Hofburg of which his primary duties were to conduct concerts held in honor of the nobility.
Lanner succumbed to a typhus infection that racked Vienna in 1843 and died on Good Friday, 14 April in the same year.

Welcome to Northern California's Auburn Symphony!
Son of the composer Johann Strauss I, and brother to the composers Josef Strauss and Eduard Strauss, Johann II is the most famous of the family.
He was known in his lifetime as "the waltz king," and the popularity of the waltz in Vienna through the 19th century is due in large part to him.
Although the most sought-after composer of dance music was Johann Strauss II in the 1860s to the 1890s, stiff competition was present in the form of Karl Michael Ziehrer and Emile Waldteufel whom the latter was commanding in his position in Paris.

Johann Strauss I (German: Johann Strauß) born in Vienna, (March 14, 1804 – September 25, 1849) was an Austrian Romantic composer known particularly for his waltzes and for popularizing it alongside Josef Lanner thereby (without intention) setting the foundations for his sons to carry on his musical dynasty.
Johann Strauss I was the father of Johann Strauss II, Josef Strauss and Eduard Strauss.
He eventually became conductor of the orchestra in which he played after it became so popular during the Fasching of 1824 and Strauss was soon placed in command of a second smaller orchestra which was formed as a result of the success of the parent orchestra.
