Josefa Iloilo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As President, Iloilo is Commander-in-Chief of the Military, but, according to the source, is required by Section 96 of the Constitution to act on the advice of the appropriate Cabinet Minister, in this case the Home Affairs Minister.
Iloilo recalled warnings from Fiji's first modern statesman, Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna (1888-1958), that the chiefs risked becoming an irrelevance if they did not take their leadership role seriously and prove that they had the qualifications and authority that their ancestors had possessed.
Iloilo, who is now (2005) almost 85 years old, has long been the subject of speculation about his health.

The National Day of Prayers and Fasting headed by President Ratu Josefa Iloilo on 9 July, causes me to once again, mull over the big difference between the philosophy being preached and, what is actually practiced by the Indigenous leadership in Fiji.
The mockery is that the very Chiefs, leaders and even religious bodies, who are openly promoting Indo-Fijian’s as enemy of the Indigenous, are holding prayer meetings (in public) with the same (Indo-Fijian’s) to seek cleansing and healing for the land, from God.
Iloilo and Qarase and the crowd should seek cleansing and healing for themselves and their racist and un-Godly attitudes towards the Indo-Fijians before seeking it for the land because it is they who are sick, not the land.
